SOFT FOOD MENU
Now that you have just had your wisdom teeth, or other teeth, removed we recommend that you eat soft foods for the next 24 to 48 hours. It is up to you, the patient, to decide when you are capable of chewing solid foods. During this time we think it is important for you to keep your diet adequate. Here are some suggestions that might help.
DAIRY
Milkshakes, ice cream without nuts or hard chunks, cottage cheese, plain or flavored yogurt, scrambled eggs, pudding. Please avoid drinking milk for at least 4 to 6 hours after surgery since milk can cause phlegm in the back of your throat.
FRUITS & VEGETABLES
All fruit juices, fruit smoothies, applesauce, mashed bananas, any blended or processed fruits or veggies, mashed potatoes and gravy.
GRAINS
Pancakes with syrup, white, whole wheat, light rye or enriched bread with jelly, creamy peanut butter or butter. Macaroni and Cheese, Spaghetti, or any type of pasta is great. Any warm cereals such as Cream of Wheat.
MEATS
It is best to avoid eating any meat products for 24 to 48 hours after surgery unless they are well ground or pureed.
SOUPS
Broth soups are the best to start with. Try to stay away from creamy soups for 24 hours, again due to phlegm in the back of your throat.
EXTRA TREATS
Popsicles, Jell-o, custards, coffee, hot cocoa and any other type of beverage as long as it has no carbonation.
